Cheese wheel secret cargo on SpaceX test flight

Cape Canaveral, FL, United States (AHN) – SpaceX, the California company that successfully launched a rocket with a capsule on Wednesday, has finally revealed it was transporting cheese in its cargo hold. The Falcon 9 rocket transported not only the Dragon capsule but some curdled milk into Earth’s orbit.

During the press conference after the capsule landed in the Pacific, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk hinted at the rumor of a secret payload on board the Dragon spacecraft, but promised to keep it a secret until Thursday. He did reveal a special clue stating that if you liked Monty Python, you would like this payload.

The kind on board Dragon was Le Brouere cheese, a nod to the Monty Python Flying Circus skit where actor John Cleese tries to order cheese from a cheese shop that has no cheese.

Dragon’s intended mission, however, is to deliver cargo, and perhaps crew, in the future to the International Space Station under contract to NASA.

Even with its “cheese” factor, the mission signaled a historic move to an era of commercially operated rockets and spacecraft.
