Bowe Bergdahl, the only known American serviceman being held in captivity in Afghanistan.
Bergdahl of Hailey, Idaho, has been held by the Taliban since June 30, 2009, when he disappeared in Paktika province in eastern Afghanistan. His godmother, Kimberly Harrison-Dellacorva lives in Portland. She told KGW in the past that Bergdahl is a man motivated by his pasion to protect not only his country, but his fellow soldiers.
According to Col. Tim Marsano with the Idaho National Guard, Bergdahl’s family has seen the photos released by a video production group called Manba al-Jihad, which has ties to the Taliban. There is no indication when the photos were taken, but the family confirms the man in the pictures is Bowe Bergdahl.
CNN reports in a nearly 45-minute video that was also released, Bergdahl is wearing an open-necked, tan shirt and has a large abrasion on his left cheek. He appears clean-shaven, although in earlier videos released to the media, Bergdahl had a beard.
A speaker in the video says the Paktia mujahadeen captured the soldier and that he is in the custody of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and has all Islamic rights.
The IntelCenter, which tracks militant messages on the Internet, said in a statement released on Wednesday that another man in the video is believed to be a Taliban commander who had threatened to kill Bergdahl.
The new pictures are the first that have been seen of him since April, but it’s not clear when they were taken.

A memorial service was held at Boston Convention and Visitor Center on what was supposed to be the 21st birthday of Henry, who played wide receiver and defensive back for the football team. The event will be followed by the first game of the football team since his death, a home game on Saturday that will have players wearing black wristbands emobroidered with his number, 12.
Henry died on Oct. 17 after being shot by Mount Pleasant police trying to contain an unruly crowd in a bar in Thornwood. The business management junior allegedly two struck officers with his car.
Police say an officer had knocked on the window of a car parked in the fire lane outside the bar during the brawl. The car, driven by Henry, accelerated and struck the officer, who ended up on the hood of the vehicle. A second officer attempted to pull the first officer from the hood but was also mowed down by the vehicle. The first officer then shot at the car and another officer fired into the car before it crashed into a police cruiser.
Henry’s family and students who witnessed the incident have raised doubts about the police’s reconstruction of events that led to his death. This week, the family requested the Justice Department to take charge of the investigation, citing the leak of a blood alcohol test as proof the probe is compromised. The family has also criticized police for failing to protect gunpowder evidence on the car.

Mack Michaels – His Struggles
He worked hard, worked really hard for the money exactly like millions of us all over the world. Hard work in itself was not enough. Mack Michaels was getting by and living paycheck to paycheck. He always wanted to live the “American Dream” but none of his jobs provided him with the satisfaction and the financial freedom he craved. He never got anywhere near making enough money and living the life he always craved for. His family’s financial future was anything but secure.
Just when Mack Michaels thought, it couldn’t get worse. It did. On a gloomy December 7th (his birthday), he got laid off from the only job he had at that point.
He knew he had to do something fast before they ended up homeless and on the streets. This time he thought long and hard before making any move to get yet another job. - To do something he truly enjoyed and was easy to do.

Mack Michaels Realized Vision Was Not Enough
