US life expectancy falls as failure of conventional medicine becomes obvious

(NaturalNews) U.S. life expectancy has dropped yet again, according to a report released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics. While overall life expectancy slipped from 77.9 years to 77.8 years, the report uncovered a surge of deaths from chronic lower respiratory diseases . This report reveals a disturbing disconnect between the increasing money being spent on health care (“sick care”) in the United States versus the lack of positive results we’re getting in return. The U.S. health care system is the most expensive in the world, and yet life expectancy is falling while U.S. citizens are nowhere near the healthiest in the world. So why is life expectancy falling? Primarily because the U.S. health care system does nothing to prevent disease . It is a system based entirely on treating symptoms of disease — “managing” disease — rather than teaching people how to avoid disease through nutrition, foods and natural remedies. In fact, the very idea of preventing disease and increasing life expectancy is strongly opposed by the medical system as well as the U.S. government: – The conventional medical system thrives on disease and would lose money and power if fewer people were stricken with cancer, diabetes and heart disease. – The U.S. government, facing financial bankruptcy due to its runaway entitled program obligations, actually saves money when people die younger . The younger people die, in other words, the less the government pays out under Medicare and social security programs. The two largest organizations currently in charge of health care in America — the government and the sick-care industry — both have a financial incentive to keep Americans sick or to see them die earlier. Your value to the sick-care machine is measured in dollars alone This shocking economic reality never occurs to many people who still mistakenly assume that drug companies want people to get healthy (they don’t) or that the government wants you to enjoy a long retirement (it doesn’t). From the sick-care industry’s perspective, if you prevent disease , you are useless to them because you won’t need their drugs, surgeries or chemotherapy. And from the government’s point of view, you’re useless as soon as you retire and stop paying taxes on your wages. At that point, you transition into a net financial drain on the government. Obviously, you are the only person who benefits from your own good health . No corporation receives any benefit when YOU are healthy. No government receives any benefit, either. This is why no television ads or public service announcements will ever encourage you to prevent disease and live a long, healthy life. If you wish to pursue such a path, you must do it for your own reasons and in opposition to the agendas of the groups that are trying to keep you diseased . This is why here at NaturalNews, we always seek to empower individuals to take charge of their own health, learn about nutrition and become independent thinkers who can dismiss the manipulations of Big Pharma or Big Government — both of which are trying to keep you as sick as possible. To achieve lasting good health, a person must rebel against the system being shoved down Americans’ throats: Junk food, mammograms, vaccines, radiation treatments, chemotherapy, prescription drugs and more. Those elements are merely designed to keep you trapped in a state of chronic degenerative disease so that doctors, drug companies and hospitals can extract as much of your money as possible before you expire. That life expectancy is falling in the United States is not some random phenomenon. It is an artifact of the very design of our sick-care system — a system in which human beings are considered profit-generating machines to be manipulated, misinformed and ultimately drugged or irradiated into a lifetime of chronic disease that generates outrageous profits for the sick-care industry. The good news is you don’t have to participate in that system. Instead, educate yourself about health and disease prevention by reading NaturalNews (and sharing it with others). We will continue to bring you independent, truthful news on natural remedies and cures that can keep you healthy and keep you out of the hospitals and doctors’ offices that will only attempt to exploit your body for profit. If you want to “live long and prosper,” as Spock famously said, you’ll need to pursue health truth and health freedom on your own. Keep reading NaturalNews, and we’ll keep bringing you information that helps you rise above the sick-care system and experience a long, healthful life, free from the disease traps that have ensnared so many others.

Unknown Killer Disease On The Loose In Uganda

Windsor Genova – AHN News News Writer

Kampala, Uganda (AHN) – An illness that took the lives of 38 people in northern Uganda since Nov. 10 remains unidentified Wednesday, according to health officials from the African country.

Initial tests conducted by the Ugandan Ministry of Health in foreign and local laboratories did not point to typhoid, ebola and bubonic plague as the cause of the deaths and infection of 90 others, who survived with early treatment.

The test in the U.S. lab Fort Collins in Colorado did not point to bubonic plague as the culprit, according to an official who refused to be identified.

The unknown disease causes severe headache and dizziness that eventually leads to diarrhea and vomiting. The symptoms last two to 10 days. Recovery is possible if treatment is administered at the early stage of the infection, the ministry said.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta has dispatched specialists to help Uganda-based staff in identifying the disease. World Health Organization experts from Brazzaville, Republic of Congo were also sent to Uganda to do the same.

HIV/AIDS: New ways to bridge the AIDS funding gap

JOHANNESBURG, 30 September 2010 (IRIN) – Money, or the lack of it, is likely to be the deciding factor in meeting global health targets. This was one of the main messages to emerge from both the recent Millennium Development Goals (MDG) summit in New York, and the latest report by UNAIDS on progress towards achieving universal access to HIV prevention, treatment and care.

UN hails progress in tackling HIV

Eight developing countries now give universal access to antivirals, but progress could be reversed without more money

More lives are being saved from HIV/Aids than ever before and eight developing countries now give drug treatment to all those who need it, according to a United Nations report published tomorrow. However, those gains could be reversed without extra money from donors, it warns.

About 5.2 million people with HIV now receive antiretroviral drugs that keep them not only alive, but fit and well – an increase of more than 1.2 million people in a year, says the report from the World Health Organisation, Unicef and UNAids. More than a third of those who need the drugs (36%) are now taking them.

Sub-Saharan Africa, the worst-affected region in the world, saw the biggest increase, from 2.9 million in December 2008 to 3.9 million at the end of last year. Botswana, Cambodia, Croatia, Cuba, Guyana, Oman, Romania and Rwanda now provide universal access to antivirals – defined as giving the drugs to at least 80% of those who need them. The goal was worldwide universal access by the end of this year.

“Countries in all parts of the world are demonstrating that universal access is achievable,” said Dr Hiroki Nakatani, the WHO assistant director-general. “But, globally, it remains an unfulfilled commitment. And we must join forces to make it a worldwide reality in the coming years.”

Dr Gottfried Himschall, the WHO’s director for HIV/Aids, warned that there was a shortfall of $10bn (£6.3bn) towards the estimated $26bn needed to keep up progress this year. Much will depend on the replenishment conference of the Global Fund to Fight Aids, TB and Malaria next month, where donors will be asked to pledge new funds.

“It is a tipping point – it is an important moment,” said Himschall. He said it was also a time to demonstrate clearly that the fight against HIV was part of the wider fight to which the world signed up last week – to save the lives of women in childbirth and their children.

At the summit in New York last week, the UN secretary general, Ban Ki-moon, won commitments from donors of $40bn by 2015 for his plan to achieve the Millennium Development Goals – to tackle poor health and poverty – through a new focus on women and children. Some of that money will be channelled through the Global Fund. It is accepted that 9% of deaths in childbirth are HIV-related, and there is a need for more funding to prevent women passing HIV to their babies at birth.

But today’s report says the battle against HIV faces difficulties. There is better evidence than ever before of the positive impact of HIV programmes on reducing infections and cutting deaths, it says. “Yet this evidence becomes available at a time when the global economic crisis of 2008-2009 has put the sustainability of many HIV programmes at risk. It is clear that without continued and strengthened financial and programmatic commitments, there is considerable danger that these achievements could be undone.”

The report details some considerable achievements but very few countries are able to treat and protect all their citizens. Data collected from 144 low and middle-income countries shows that 15, including Botswana, Guyana and South Africa, were able to give 80% of women in childbirth the services they needed to prevent transmission of HIV to their babies. Fourteen countries, including Brazil, Namibia and Ukraine, provided HIV treatment to more than 80% of the children who needed it. Health Care Reform Provisions Take Effect Amid Controversy Over Costs

Tom Ramstack – AHN News Correspondent

Washington, DC, United States (AHN) – Key parts of a controversial health care reform law took effect Thursday even as Republicans continued complaining about the high cost for the American public.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which President Barack Obama signed into law six months ago, now restricts the authority of insurance companies to put lifetime limits on health benefits of consumers.

It also forbids insurers from denying health benefits to children with pre-existing conditions.

Another round of requirements under the law takes effect next month, all of them seeking to extend health benefits to a larger number of people.

Even as the law took effect Thursday, Republican leaders were announcing an agenda that would repeal many provisions of the law.

House Republicans said their “Pledge to America” represented “governing principles” they would follow if they regain a majority in Congress during the November elections.

Many of the principles, including one on health care reform, are designed to curb government spending.

The health care principle calls on Congress to “Repeal the Obama health care bill, replacing it with Republican proposals, including limits on malpractice lawsuits.”

Obama seemed to anticipate Republican statements against his heath care reform law when he held a televised meeting Wednesday evening with residents of Falls Church, VA, on the back porch of a local home.

“The single biggest driver of our deficit is the ever-escalating costs of health care. . . . It was bankrupting families, companies and our government,” Obama said.

Economists say it will take years to determine whether Republicans or Democrats are right on how the health care law will affect the national deficit.

Republicans say it will drive up the deficit. Democrats say it will lower insurance premiums for everyone, thereby driving down the deficit.

Recent public opinion polls show Americans are evenly split on whether they favor or oppose the law.

Obama used folksy anecdotes from members of the audience to demonstrate the importance of his health care reform program.

A Jacksonville, FL, woman said she was grateful the new law would relieve her of the obligation to pay for eye surgeries her son is likely to need.

A Keene, NH, teacher said she was disqualified from getting the cancer treatment she needs until the new law abolished the right of insurance companies to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.

Other provisions of the law that took effect Thursday require:

  • Health insurers must allow the children of covered parents to stay on the family policy until they are 26 years old;
  • Health plans cannot charge deductibles, co-payments or co-insurance for routine preventive services such as cancer screenings, vaccinations and counseling;
  • Insurers must grant direct access to obstetricians, gynecologists and pediatricians without referrals from other doctors;
  • Insurers can no longer cancel health policies retroactively without first proving fraud;
  • Patients now have a right to appeal their denial of insurance benefits to an independent reviewer;
  • Patients can choose which emergency room they want to use without penalty and without getting prior approval from their health insurers.

The Obama administration has set up a Web site for public information on the new health care reform law. It can be found at www. healthcare.gov.

Recession Over or Not?

Recession Over or Not? The International Monetary Fund says we are in the worst recession
since World War II, and we are recovering very, very slowly. But still
not enough to keep unemployment from growing next year. They have now
borrowed Ten Billon dollars from Canada. Recession over? It really
does not look that way. Congress is even thinking about another Stimulus Package. From what I
read the first one has not done a bit of good. Those that needed the
help, did not even receive it. Those that did not need the help, did
receive it, like the people in prison.  They are also talking about
limiting future spending on health care and retirement security. So
what is going to happen to the elderly without health care, or the
retirees without retirement? I say the government should take a cut in pay and help the elderly,
not take from them, they have already paid their dues.  There are just
too many questions on what the future holds for us.  I do not know
about anyone else, but I am going to do something about it, I am doing
something about it. I found a work from home business that is
recession proof. It is world wide an in over 100 plus countries right
now. With this work from home business everyone has a chance to get
out of the recession we are in. Because the recession is not over. As mad as the news about the economy and the recession makes me, I
still have to read some of what is going on and hope that in some way
I can help. No one likes to hear about all the bad stuff that is going
on in the world, and no one likes to be told what to do, that is why
most of us live in America. If there is a way out of this recession, which there is, with a work
from home business, then why not give it a try. It would just be
great, not to have to deal with the recession or what the government
is doing by cutting health care, retirement benefits and social
security.  No more stress, no more worries, just Freedom, Health and
Wealth. So is the recession over? Yes, for those people with a work
from home business.
